What the root grapple does
The root grapple is two hydraulic jaws with tines that open wide to rake, grab, and clamp down on loose material, then hold it tight while you carry it off. Where a bucket can only scoop what fits inside it, the grapple grabs irregular, bulky things a bucket cannot: a pile of limbs, a tangle of brush, a log, a chunk of broken-out concrete, or a stump.
On the Bobcat MT-120 mini skid steer, the grapple turns the machine into a cleanup and clearing tool. The tines let debris and dirt fall through while keeping the material you want, so you are not hauling a load of mud with your brush. Combined with the machine's hydraulic breakout force, the grapple can also work under a stump or root ball, rock it loose, and pry it out of the ground.
It is one of the most useful and most rented attachments we offer, because almost every clearing, storm-cleanup, and demolition job ends with a pile of something awkward that has to be picked up and moved.

Grab a whole pile of downed limbs and brush in one bite and carry it to a burn pile or trailer, instead of dragging branches by hand for hours.

Work the tines under residential stumps and root balls, rock them free, and pry them out using the machine's breakout force.

After the brushcat mows brush down, the grapple rakes and stacks the cut material for hauling, and pulls the roots the mower left behind.

Grab broken concrete, old fence and deck boards, and demolition debris and load it straight onto a trailer or dump trailer.
